    Corps announces review and comment period for environmental document

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, today released a Draft Environmental Assessment titled. “Louisiana Coastal Area (LCA) Beneficial Use of Dredged Material Program, Barataria Bay Waterway at Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.” This environmental assessment covers a proposal to place fill material in the narrow corridor of wetlands that separate Bayou Perot and Bayou Rigolettes in Jefferson Parish.

Michael Clancy and Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority of Louisiana Board Chairman Chip Kline signed a partnering agreement to design hurricane and storm damage risk reduction features in Calcasieu, Cameron and Vermilion parishes as part of the Southwest Coastal Louisiana project.

    Corps begins next phase of inspections along Mississippi River

    The Mississippi River at the Carrollton Gage has risen to 15.0 feet prompting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District to activate Phase II flood fight procedures. During Phase II, the Corps works with the local levee districts to conduct daily inspections of the Mississippi River levees.
