USACE releases final IHNC report for review

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, released the Final General Reevaluation Report and Integrated Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement for the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal (IHNC) Lock Replacement Project for a 30-day public review from July 10, 2026, through August 10, 2026.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to Temporarily Close Reserve Relief Canal Boat Launch and Canal for West Shore Lake Pontchartrain Construction

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, will temporarily close the Reserve Relief Canal Boat Launch and restrict travel down the full length of the Reserve Relief Canal starting July 15, 2026. These closures and travel restrictions are projected to remain in place until project completion in June 2030.

In a display of intergovernmental unity, the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA), the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) have agreed to a joint commitment to overhaul bureaucratic processes and accelerate coastal resilience efforts.

South Farm to host Wood Stork & Wading Bird Event Saturday, August 1, 2026

A Wood Stork & Wading Bird Event will be held on Saturday, August 1st, 2026 at the South Farm of the Sherburne Wildlife Management Area Complex. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries would like to invite everyone to view this spectacle. Wood storks and other wading and shore birds can be viewed in this area as they are drawn to feed in the South Farm’s water management units.

Temporary Closure of Indiana Street Supports Ongoing SELA Drainage Improvements

The southbound lane of Indiana Street between Seine Street to General de Gaulle Drive in New Orleans, La, will be closed to traffic beginning Monday, June 8, 2026, to support construction activities associated with the federally funded Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control Project (SELA).

West Bank and Vicinity Future Levee Lifts Project Agreement Signed

Representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority Board of Louisiana, the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-West, the Lafourche Basin Conservation Levee and Drainage District, and the Plaquemines Parish Government signed an agreement today to begin preconstruction engineering and design phase for upcoming levee lifts of the Greater New Orleans Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System’s West Bank and Vicinity Future Levee Lifts project.
