Effective May 25,2020 interested parties are hereby notified that a request for permission to alter a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) project pursuant to Section 14 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 (33 U.S.C. Effective May 28, 2020 interested parties are hereby notified that a request for permission to alter U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) projects pursuant to Section 14 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 (33 U.S.C. Section 408) has been received and will be evaluated by the New Orleans District. Written comments, including any objections to the proposed alteration, stating reasons therefor, are being solicited from anyone having an interest in the requested alteration of USACE projects. This Public Notice solicits comments only on the proposed alteration of the eight federal projects and fourteen federal easements described below and depicted on the attached drawings.     Olivier Plantation, LLC. is requesting authorization, to construct a 10-slip boat shed, deck and parking area on the flood side of the Lake Pontchartrain and Vicinity-Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System (LP&VHSDRRS) floodwall and along the bank of the Mississippi River-Gulf Outlet Canal (MRGO). The 10-slip boat shed will have an elevated deck approximately 200' leading to the slips. The parking area and driveway will be constructed using TrueGrid Root Grass pavers to keep the appearance the same.

    Marathon Petroleum Company (File # 2022-1143)

    TRC Companies, obo Marathon Petroleum Company, to transport two reactor vessels from the Mississippi River onto the batture to a temporary modular bridge across the left descending Mississippi River levee, vicinity of second order levee station 4553+67, at Garyville, Louisiana, in St. John the Baptist Parish. The proposed action could require minor dredging in the Mississippi River adjacent to the project area.
  • LA 23 Asset Management Group, LLC (LA 23) (22-0193)

    LA 23 is requesting authorization to install a continuous, pile-supported wharf structure at the (-)50-foot contour in the river. There will be four discrete pile-supported approachways from the wharf back across the batture. Where the approachways cross the levee section they will be supported by spread footings. The approachways will then reach the elevated container stacking area. The container stacking area between the levee and Hwy 23 will be elevated to approximately (+)17.5 feet and retaining walls will be installed.

    The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), New Orleans District (CEMVN), is reviewing a request for permission to modify a USACE Project under Section 14 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 and codified in 33 U.S.C. 408 (“Section 408”). The project to be modified or altered is the New Orleans to Venice East Bank Hurricane Bank Levee (NOV-01), Phoenix to Bohemia Polder Levee System Reach C project in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana. The proposed modification is to fill nine (9) non-operational culverts at four (4) locations with lightweight grout to stabilize them in order to be permanently abandoned in place and maintain the integrity of the levee.

    LPV 111 Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority

    The Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority – East Bank (SLFPA-E) and the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority Board of Louisiana (CPRAB) (together, "the requester") have requested permission to alter portions of the Lake Pontchartrain and Vicinity (LPV) Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System (HSDRRS) to increase the height of the LPV 111 levee reach, which will increase the level of hurricane and storm damage risk reduction for that reach prior to United States Army Corps of Engineers New Orleans District's (CEMVN) planned armoring.
