Effective May 28, 2020 interested parties are hereby notified that a request for permission to alter U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) projects pursuant to Section 14 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 (33 U.S.C. Section 408) has been received and will be evaluated by the New Orleans District. Written comments, including any objections to the proposed alteration, stating reasons therefor, are being solicited from anyone having an interest in the requested alteration of USACE projects. This Public Notice solicits comments only on the proposed alteration of the eight federal projects and fourteen federal easements described below and depicted on the attached drawings.     The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), New Orleans District (CEMVN), is reviewing a request for permission to modify a USACE Project under Section 14 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 and codified in 33 U.S.C. 408 (“Section 408”). The project to be modified or altered is the New Orleans to Venice East Bank Hurricane Bank Levee (NOV-01), Phoenix to Bohemia Polder Levee System Reach C project in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana. The proposed modification is to fill nine (9) non-operational culverts at four (4) locations with lightweight grout to stabilize them in order to be permanently abandoned in place and maintain the integrity of the levee.

    LPV 111 Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority

    The Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority – East Bank (SLFPA-E) and the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority Board of Louisiana (CPRAB) (together, "the requester") have requested permission to alter portions of the Lake Pontchartrain and Vicinity (LPV) Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System (HSDRRS) to increase the height of the LPV 111 levee reach, which will increase the level of hurricane and storm damage risk reduction for that reach prior to United States Army Corps of Engineers New Orleans District's (CEMVN) planned armoring.
