    Corps seeks public comments on proposed action at Neptune Pass

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is requesting public comments for the proposed installation of a flow control feature within Neptune Pass, a newly enlarged pass on the east bank of the Mississippi River across from Buras in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana. The public comment period begins on Sept. 16 and concludes on Oct. 16, 2022.

    Recommended plan for South Central Coast Louisiana project finalized

    Lt. Gen. Scott Spellmon, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers commanding general and Chief of Engineers, signed the South Central Coast, Louisiana Chief of Engineers Report specifying the recommended path forward for reducing hurricane and storm damage risk in Iberia, St. Martin and St. Mary parishes. The report has been submitted to the Administration and Congress for review and authorization.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, received an exemption for additional time and funding for the St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana Feasibility Study to further refine the Tentatively Selected Plan (TSP) identified in 2021.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in partnership with the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA), will undertake $122 million in work to address Hurricane Ida-related damage to the Grand Isle Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction Project.

    Lane shift on U.S. 61 near Barnett Road in Zachary as construction continues on the Comite River Diversion Canal project

    Contract awarded for site preparation for the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, recently awarded a contract for site preparation on a 1.1-mile segment of the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain (WSLP) Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction project. This contract will support the construction of about 17.5 miles of levees that will provide 100-year level risk reduction to the area extending from Bonnet Carrė Spillway to Garyville, La.
