  • Record of Decision signed for IHNC Lock Replacement

    Thursday, the Hon. Adam Telle, Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works (ASA(CW)), officially signed the Record of Decision (ROD) for the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal (IHNC) Lock Replacement Study. The District Engineer’s Recommended Plan is contained in the 2026 General Reevaluation Report and Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement.

    Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works Mr. Adam Telle concluded a four-day, three-state tour through Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi last Friday, marking the successful completion of ‘BUILDING INFRASTRUCTURE, NOT PAPERWORK IN ACTION: GULF OF AMERICA WEEK’ and breaking ground at the $3.7 billion Blue Point One fertilizer facility in Donaldsonville alongside USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins, USDA Deputy Secretary Stephen Vaden, Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council (FPISC) Executive Director Emily Domenech, and Rep. Julia Letlow (LA-05).

  • Temporary Closure of General De Gaulle Drive Supports Ongoing SELA Drainage Improvements

    Early this afternoon, August 18, 2026, westbound General De Gaulle Drive approximately 250 feet past the western entrance to Sandra Drive will be reduced to one lane traffic to accommodate drainage infrastructure improvements by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Motorists and residents are encouraged to plan alternate routes and allow additional travel time while construction is underway. Normal traffic conditions along this section of General De Gaulle Drive are expected to be restored by this evening.

    On August 11, 2026, General De Gaulle Drive between Florence Avenue and Indiana Street will be reduced to one-lane traffic to accommodate roadway restoration work by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Motorists and residents are encouraged to plan alternate routes and allow additional travel time while construction is underway.

  • USACE, SWBNO and DPW to Host Open House on SELA Construction Activities in Desire Neighborhood

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans and the City of New Orleans Department of Public Works will host an open house regarding upcoming construction activities in the Desire neighborhood as part of the Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control Project (SELA 26.1a).

  • UPDATE: Temporary Closure of General De Gaulle to Support Ongoing SELA Drainage Improvements

    As part of the federally funded Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control Project (SELA), the two right eastbound lanes of General De Gaulle Drive between Florence Avenue and Indiana Street in New Orleans will be temporarily closed to traffic starting Friday, August 7, at 7:00 p.m. through Saturday, August 8, 2026, to accommodate ongoing drainage improvement construction. Following completion of that work, the two left eastbound lanes of General De Gaulle Drive between Georgia Street and Indiana Street will also be temporarily closed from Saturday, August 8, through no later than 6:00 a.m. Monday, August 10.
