    Corps begins next phase of inspections along Mississippi River

    The Mississippi River at the Carrollton gage has risen to 15.0 feet prompting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District to activate phase II flood fight procedures. During phase II the Corps works with the local levee districts to conduct daily inspections of the Mississippi River levees.

    Corps launches new wetland assessment method

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District initiated use the new Louisiana Wetland Rapid Assessment Method (LRAM) to determine impacts to wetlands and calculate compensatory mitigation requirements for activities permitted under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899.
