    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District will temporarily close Almonaster Ave. northbound at Florida Ave. and apply traffic control restrictions on Florida Ave. between Franklin Ave. and Almonaster Ave. The closure will be in effect Monday, June 1 through Saturday, August 1, 2020.

  • Army Corps closes final bays at Bonnet Carré Spillway

    Based on the reduced flows in the Mississippi River at Red River Landing, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District closed the final bays of the Bonnet Carré Spillway Friday, May 1. Although water levels are receding, allowing the structure’s closure, the Mississippi River in the New Orleans District’s area of responsibility remains elevated. Army Corps personnel will continue flood fight inspections alongside local levee districts and all levee and excavation restrictions remain in effect.
  • Sewage & Water Board to temporarily shut off water line between Florida Ave. and N. Dorgenois St. between Louisa St. and Congress St.

    The Sewage & Water Board of New Orleans will shut off the water line between Florida Ave. and N. Dorgenois St. between Louisa St. and Congress St. on Thursday, April 30, 2020 from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. while new water line tie-ins are installed. This work is related to the construction of a new drainage canal as part of the Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control project.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, has prepared a Draft Supplemental Environmental Assessment #571 (SEA #571) titled “West Shore Lake Pontchartrain Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction Levee System St. Charles and St. John the Baptist Parishes, Louisiana” which is available for public review and comment. The 30-day public review and comment period for SEA #571 will begin on April 23, 2020 and end on May 23, 2020.

  • General De Gaulle Dr. westbound to close more frequently between Behrman Pl. and MacArthur Blvd.

    Since April 1, 2020, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District has periodically closed the left lane of General De Gaulle Drive westbound to traffic between Behrman Place and MacArthur Boulevard for work related to the Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control project. Starting Monday, April 20, the construction crew will begin pouring concrete base slabs. As a result, concrete trucks will make frequent deliveries, causing the left lane to be closed more often between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
