    HSDRRS levee lift Final General Re-evaluation Reports available for review

    The New Orleans District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers released the final version of the Lake Pontchartrain & Vicinity and West Bank & Vicinity General Re-evaluation Reports for a 30-day review beginning Aug. 6, 2021.

    Crawfish Season extended at Indian Bayou

    In response to higher than normal water levels in the area, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has elected to extend the crawfish season for one month within the Indian Bayou area. The season end date is now August 31, 2021.

    St. Tammany Feasibility Study Draft Report virtual public meetings scheduled

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District has scheduled two virtual public meetings to gather input regarding the St. Tammany Parish Feasibility Study with Integrated Environmental Impact Statement. The goal of the study is to develop alternatives to reduce flood damages caused by hurricane and rainfall events. The meetings will be held via WebEx and simultaneously streamed on the district’s Facebook page on June 28 and 29, 2021.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District released its St. Tammany Parish Feasibility Study Draft Report with Integrated Environmental Impact Statement for a 45-day public review and comment period starting June 11 through July 26, 2021.

    Corps deactivates inspections along Mississippi River

    After 79 days, water levels along the Mississippi River have dropped below 11 feet at the Carrollton Gage prompting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District to suspend current flood fight operations.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, has prepared a Draft Comprehensive Environmental Document (CED) titled, “Comprehensive Environmental Document Phase II, Greater New Orleans (GNO) Area Hurricane Storm Damage Risk Reduction System (HSDRRS)”. The draft document is available for your review.

    Virtual public meetings set for Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion Draft Environmental Impact Statement

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Louisiana Trustee Implementation Group (LA TIG) will jointly conduct three virtual public meetings to solicit comments on the Draft EIS and Draft Restoration Plan. UPDATE: Comment period for the Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion Draft Environmental Impact Statement has been extended until June 3, 2021

    USACE signs Record of Decision for the Mississippi River mainline levees Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement II

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) signed the Record of Decision for the Final Supplement II (Final SEIS II) to the 1976 Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS), Mississippi River and Tributaries (MR&T) Project, Mississippi River Mainline Levees (MRL), on March 11.

    The Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority of Louisiana (CPRA) has applied to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for permits and permission to construct, maintain and operate the Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion project on the west bank of the Mississippi River in Plaquemines Parish.
