Effective May 25,2020 interested parties are hereby notified that a request for permission to alter a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) project pursuant to Section 14 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 (33 U.S.C. Section 408) has been received and will be evaluated by the New Orleans District. Click here to read the official notice.

Effective May 28, 2020 interested parties are hereby notified that a request for permission to alter U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) projects pursuant to Section 14 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 (33 U.S.C. Section 408) has been received and will be evaluated by the New Orleans District. Written comments, including any objections to the proposed alteration, stating reasons therefor, are being solicited from anyone having an interest in the requested alteration of USACE projects. This Public Notice solicits comments only on the proposed alteration of the eight federal projects and fourteen federal easements described below and depicted on the attached drawings. 16-738, Archer Daniels Midland Company proposes to extend an existing ship dock, construct three new ship loaders, and dredge along the right descending (west) bank of the Mississippi River near Ama, Louisiana in St. Charles Parish

Archer Daniels Midland Company proposes to expand an existing ship dock at their facility on the Mississippi River.  Specifically they would extend an existing dock, install three new ship loaders, four breasting dolphins, two mooring dolphins, barge fenders and associated piles.  Stone rip-rap would be placed around piles for scour protection.  Approximately 1,000 cubic yards of stone would be used for scour protection around the piles. Approximately 12,000 cubic yards of dredging is proposed, and the material would be disposed of in the Mississippi River beyond the 55-foot contour as shown in the attached drawings.
