MVN-2011-2044-CO

Published Dec. 21, 2015
Expiration date: 1/19/2016

NAME OF APPLICANT:  Impala Warehousing (US), LLC, c/o Providence Engineering and Environmental Group, LLC, 1201 Main Street, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70802.

LOCATION OF WORK:  Within the Mississippi River Basin, in the Lower Mississippi River – Baton Rouge hydrologic unit (HUC 08070100), in the Mississippi River, left descending bank, mile marker 169.7, near Burnside, Louisiana, in Ascension Parish, as shown on the enclosed drawings.

CHARACTER OF WORK:  The applicant proposes to perform maintenance dredging around their existing dock facility to allow vessels to access their facility.  Approximately 5 acres of non-vegetated waterbottoms will be dredged via clamshell dredge.  If available, water injection dredging may be utilized in lieu of the clamshell dredge in area 5.  Approximately, 96,398 cubic yards of river silt will be removed annually.  Dredging operations are expected to last three weeks.  Approximately 713 cubic yards of the dredged material will be deposited over a 0.2 acre area in the batture.  The remaining dredged material will be placed on a barge and deposited beyond the -55 foot contour.  Compensatory mitigation is not anticipated because no impacts to vegetated wetlands are proposed.  Should compensatory mitigation be deemed necessary, the applicant will purchase mitigation credits from an approved mitigation bank within the project watershed.
