Public Notices Overview

How to send comments. Comments can be mailed to the address appearing in the Public Notice or emailed to the Project Manager identified on the Public Notice. Comments made in reference to a Public Notice should include your name, address, and phone number as well as the permit application number identified on the Public Notice.

Individuals or parties may request an extension of time in which to comment on the proposed work by writing to the project manager or clicking on the project manager’s name on the public notice grid on the web page. Any request must be specific and substantively supportive of the requested extension, and received by this office prior to the end of the initial comment period. The Branch Chief will review the request and the requestor will be promptly notified of the decision to grant or deny the request. If granted, the time extension will be continuous to the initial comment period and, inclusive of the initial comment period, will not exceed a total of 30 calendar days.

NAME OF APPLICANT: Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, P.O. Box 94245, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70804.

LOCATION OF WORK: The project site is located in Sections 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 38, Township 10 South, Range 09 West beginning near West Prien Lake Road’s intersection with Holly Hill Road and extending northwest to Nelson Road in Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, within Hydrologic Unit Code 08080206 as shown on the attached drawings.

CHARACTER OF WORK: The proposed project includes clearing, grubbing, and deposition of fill material all for the addition of approximately 0.9 mile of new roadway to West Prien Lake Road. Project components will include the installation of new road base, construction of new roundabout interchanges and installation of drainage structures. Approximately 1.0 acre of jurisdictional wetlands and 0.2 acre of jurisdictional waters of the U.S. will be affected by this project. The applicant’s mitigation plan proposes to purchase compensatory mitigation credits from an appropriate mitigation bank.
