  • Contract awarded for Old River Low Sill Control Structure Dewatering

    New Orleans, La. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, awarded a $34.2 million contract to McMillen, Inc. of Boise, ID for construction of a steel system to allow dewatering of the Old River Low Sill Control Structure. Dewatering is scheduled to occur in late summer and fall of 2024 when the river is traditionally at low water stages.

    NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District have scheduled two public scoping meetings to present information and gather public input for the Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana Feasibility Study.
  • Contract awarded for levee work for the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, recently awarded a contract for constructing the fifth levee reach and pipeline crossing floodwall on the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain (WSLP) Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction project. This contract will construct approximately 2.5 miles of the 17.5-mile-long levee system that will provide 100-year level risk reduction to the area primarily in St. John the Baptist, St. James and St. Charles Parish.
  • Contract awarded for levee work for the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, recently awarded a contract for constructing the fourth levee reach on the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain (WSLP) Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction project.   • Contract awarded for post-Ida repairs to the Grand Isle and Vicinity project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, has awarded its third and final construction contract for post-Ida repairs to the Grand Isle and Vicinity project. The work includes installation of 20,000LF of clay filled geotextile dune core, repairs to the existing sand-filled geo-tube core, and dredged placement of sand to restore the dune and beach in Grand Isle.
  • Mississippi River Commission cancels the remainder of the 409th session of the low-water inspection trip

    Brig. Gen. Kimberly Peeples has canceled the remainder of the MRC’s low water inspection trip and public hearings, effective immediately. This decision is in the best public health interests of the crew and our partners.
