  • Contract awarded for access road work for the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, recently awarded a contract for constructing access roads on the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain (WSLP) Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction project. This construction will support the construction of approximately 17.5 miles of levee system that will provide 100-year level risk reduction to the area extending from Bonnet Carrė spillway to Garyville.

  • Corps seeks public comments on Humble Canal Draft Environmental Assessment

    The New Orleans District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers released the draft environmental assessment for the “Mississippi River and Tributaries, Morganza to the Gulf of Mexico, Louisiana Humble Canal Gate Site Preparation and Initial Levee Preload,” and is seeking public comment through Sept. 11, 2021.
  • HSDRRS levee lift Final General Re-evaluation Reports available for review

    The New Orleans District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers released the final version of the Lake Pontchartrain & Vicinity and West Bank & Vicinity General Re-evaluation Reports for a 30-day review beginning Aug. 6, 2021.
  • Crawfish Season extended at Indian Bayou

    In response to higher than normal water levels in the area, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has elected to extend the crawfish season for one month within the Indian Bayou area. The season end date is now August 31, 2021.
  • St. Tammany Feasibility Study Draft Report virtual public meetings scheduled

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District has scheduled two virtual public meetings to gather input regarding the St. Tammany Parish Feasibility Study with Integrated Environmental Impact Statement. The goal of the study is to develop alternatives to reduce flood damages caused by hurricane and rainfall events. The meetings will be held via WebEx and simultaneously streamed on the district’s Facebook page on June 28 and 29, 2021.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District released its St. Tammany Parish Feasibility Study Draft Report with Integrated Environmental Impact Statement for a 45-day public review and comment period starting June 11 through July 26, 2021.
