NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, will begin intermittent closures at the Seabrook Floodgate Complex  to complete critical underwater repairs to the barge gate at the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal (IHNC)-Lake Borgne Surge Barrier.  The safety of the public is the Corps top priority and the repairs are necessary to ensure that the gate can remain operational and perform as designed.

Beginning on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012 for approximately ten days, the Seabrook Floodgate will be closed daily from 4:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. to control current velocities at the surge barrier and enable divers to safely complete the repairs. The closure schedule has been coordinated with the navigation industry.
