Public Notices Overview

ALL projects are sorted by issuance date. The public notices and drawings are in PDF formatted files. You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your PC to view the files. If you don't have it, you may download it free from www.adobe.com.

Viewing Notices. To view a Public Notice and its associated Drawings file (if any), click on the "Public Notice" or "Public Notice and Drawings" link and any additional links included in the attachments section. How to send comments. Comments can be mailed to the address appearing in the Public Notice or emailed to the Project Manager identified on the Public Notice. Comments made in reference to a Public Notice should include your name, address, and phone number as well as the permit application number identified on the Public Notice. 

Individuals or parties may request an extension of time in which to comment on the proposed work by writing to the project manager or clicking on the project manager’s name on the public notice grid on the web page.  Any request must be specific and substantively supportive of the requested extension, and received by this office prior to the end of the initial comment period.  The Branch Chief will review the request and the requestor will be promptly notified of the decision to grant or deny the request.  If granted, the time extension will be continuous to the initial comment period and, inclusive of the initial comment period, will not exceed a total of 30 calendar days.

NAME OF APPLICANT:  Walter Oil and Gas Corporation, c/o T. Baker Smith, LLC, Attn: Brian Briggs, 107 Global Circle, Suite 100, Lafayette, Louisiana 70503.

 

LOCATION OF WORK: Located in the Leleux Field, in Section 6, T11S-R20E, in Vermilion Parish, Louisiana, as shown on the enclosed drawings (30.110028, -92.303128).  This project is located in USGS Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC) 08080202-Lower Mississippi Region.

 

CHARACTER OF WORK:  The applicant proposes to install and maintain fill for an expansion to the existing well for re-entry to drill the Morgan Well No. 1.  This expansion will require excavation of approximately 503 cubic yards of material to construct a perimeter ring levee and placement of approximately 740 cubic yards of sand fill to construct a 250’ x 350’ well pad. 

Approximately 1.2 acres of jurisdictional wetlands will be impacted for project implementation, as shown on the attached permit drawings.  Upon completion of the project, the site will be returned to pre-project conditions and contours.  The applicant has proposed to purchase compensatory mitigation credits from a Corps approved bank to satisfy the mitigation requirement for wetland impacts.
