Published Jan. 23, 2014
Expiration date: 2/17/2014

NAME OF APPLICANT: Western Geco, c/o St. Croix Seismic, Attn: Lesle Wright, Post Office Box 190, Gordon, Wisconsin  54838.

LOCATION OF WORK: Located within a 6.2-square mile area, North of I-12, in Louisiana, in Livingston Parish, Lake Pontchartrain Basin, Hydrologic Unit Code 08070203, as shown on the enclosed drawings.

CHARACTER OF WORK: Conduct a 3-D seismic survey to provide a high-resolution image of subsurface geological features.  Receiver and source lines will be positioned in preparation for the drilling phase and will include hand clearing for access.  The drilling phase will consist of drilling approximately (202) 4.25-inch diameter shot holes along the source lines to a depth of up to 60 feet and placing a charge on the bottom with gravel, bentonite, drill cuttings and plugs.  The acquisition phase will consist of the deployment of geophones along the receiver lines.  Once in place, the charges will be detonated and the energy recorded through the cables for processing, as shown on the attached drawings.  Approximately 435 locations will be surveyed by vibrating trucks located on existing roads.  The vibration method will be used at locations where shot hole methods cannot be safely used (near homes, wells, pipelines, etc.).  There are no permanent impacts proposed to wetlands, therefore no compensatory mitigation will be required.
