NAME OF APPLICANT: Assumption Parish Police Jury, c/o Kim M. Torres, P.O. Box 520 Napoleonville, LA 70390.

LOCATION OF WORK: In Pierre Part, Louisiana between LA-70 and Little Tensas Bayou in Assumption Parish, (29.95094722, -91.219433), within the West Central Louisiana Coastal in hydrologic unit (HUC 08090302), as shown on the attached drawings.

CHARACTER OF WORK: The applicant has requested Department of the Army authorization to clear, grade, excavate and deposit fill and/or aggregate material to construct and maintain an extension to the Lower Pierre Part Flood Protect Levee System. The proposed levee will be 6,607 linear feet by 86-ft wide with an elevation of +4.5-ft and 8-ft crown. Seven (7) 24inch culverts fitted with canal gates will be installed in the proposed levee in order to maintain hydrologic connectivity of wetlands. Approximately 22,750 cubic yards of native material will be excavated from a borrow canal and will be used as fill to construct the levee. All trees and vegetation within the proposed levee and borrow canal extents will be removed and disposed of at an offsite location. Access to the proposed levee will utilize an existing driveway to the north and existing levee system to the south. All construction equipment will remain within the 86-ft footprint of the levee system. A preliminary analysis has determined that the proposed project would permanently impact approximately 14 acres of jurisdictional forested wetlands.
