NAME OF APPLICANT: Viking USA, LLC, c/o Hargrove and Associates, Inc., Attn: Madison Bologna, 4150 South Sherwood Forest Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA 70816.

LOCATION OF WORK: [in the Mississippi River, left descending bank, mile 170, near B in Ascension Parish, Louisiana, (lat. 30.140036, long. -90.93522), as shown within the attached drawings. (Hydrologic Unit Code 08070100, Mississippi River Basin).

CHARACTER OF WORK: The applicant has requested Department of Army authorization to install and maintain a series of landing platforms and gangways to allow pedestrian access to a cruise vessel. Supported by a fixed pile bent, two 80-foot gangways connected by two flexi-float platforms, will extend out to breasting dolphins located approximately 350-feet from the Mississippi River Levee. The platform systems, guided by pile structures, will allow the system to adjust with fluctuating water levels. Six monopile breasting dolphins with fenders and six monopile mooring dolphins will be installed to secure the vessel. According to the applicant and the proposed schedule of operation, vessels will be moored at the site during daylight hours only. Most of the construction activities will occur via barge mounted equipment. An existing gravel road will be used to access the batture as necessary. The proposed structure would impact approximately 0.5 acre of maintained batture, and 0.8 acre of non-vegetated river bottom. Approximately 0.1 acre of non-vegetated waterbottoms will be filled by the proposed rip-rap for revetment repair.
