Published Aug. 5, 2024
Expiration date: 9/4/2024
NAME OF APPLICANT: Ingram Barge Company, c/o Lanier & Associates Consulting Engineers, Inc., 4101 Magazine Street, New Orleans, Louisiana, 70115.

LOCATION OF WORK: In the Mississippi River, right descending bank, between miles 183 and 186, near Modeste, Louisiana, in Ascension Parish, within the Mississippi River Basin in hydrologic unit (HUC 08070100), as shown on the attached drawings.

CHARACTER OF WORK: By authorization dated 25 Jun 2020, the applicant was authorized to install and maintain anchor piles to secure four blocks of barges (one block of six tiers, one block of seven tiers, one block of 10 tiers, and one block of five tears, each nine barges wide). A modification dated 6 Apr 2021, authorized two additional blocks (one containing 16 tiers, and one containing 13 tiers, both of which are 10 barges wide). To date, no construction has begun because the nearby developments didn’t progress due to economic concerns. The applicant is now requesting a modification and time extension to their Department of the Army authorization to include anchor piles to support a total of six blocks of barges: one block of 13 tiers, one block of six tiers, one block of seven tiers, one block of 16 tiers, one block of 10 tiers, and one block of five tiers, each measuring nine barges wide. All work will take place from barge mounted equipment in the waterway. No impacts to vegetated wetlands are proposed. Approximately 82.4 acres of non-vegetated water bottoms will be impacted by the proposed structures.
