How to send comments. Comments can be mailed to the address appearing in the Public Notice or emailed to the Project Manager identified on the Public Notice. Comments made in reference to a Public Notice should include your name, address, and phone number as well as the permit application number identified on the Public Notice. 

Individuals or parties may request an extension of time in which to comment on the proposed work by writing to the project manager or clicking on the project manager’s name on the public notice grid on the web page.  Any request must be specific and substantively supportive of the requested extension, and received by this office prior to the end of the initial comment period.  The Branch Chief will review the request and the requestor will be promptly notified of the decision to grant or deny the request.  If granted, the time extension will be continuous to the initial comment period and, inclusive of the initial comment period, will not exceed a total of 30 calendar days.

NAME OF APPLICANT: City of Gonzales, c/o Duplantis Design Group, PC (DDG), 1308 Camellia Blvd, Lafayette, Louisiana 70508.

LOCATION OF WORK: This project is located along Bayou Boyle, within in the city of Gonzales, Louisiana, approximately 0.75 mile southeast of the intersection of LA-HWY 30 and S. Burnside Ave, in Ascension Parish, within the Lake Pontchartrain Basin in hydrologic unit (HUC 08070204), as shown on the attached drawings. Coordinates: 30.204147, -90.909967.

CHARACTER OF WORK: The applicant has requested Department of the Army authorization to clear, grade, excavate, and deposit fill and/or aggregate material to construct and maintain residential storm water retention and detention ponds, access roads and parking areas for maintenance, and water control structures along Bayou Boyle. The applicant states the project will provide reductions to storm water elevations during storm events. Approximately 328,433 cubic yards of earthen material would be excavated and reused as fill on site or hauled offsite to an upland, non-wet disposal location. The proposed project is situated on an approximately 54-acre tract that has been determined to be primarily forested wetlands. Of this, approximately 41.62 acres of wetlands and approximately 1.45 acres of other waters would be impacted during construction. The remainder of the property will be left in its natural state. It is anticipated that the proposed action would have minimal impact on adjacent wetlands.
