MVN-2019-00371-CF

Published April 13, 2020
Expiration date: 5/30/2020

NAME OF APPLICANT:  GREATER LAFOURCHE PORT COMMISSION , c/o Angelette Picciola, LLC, 13379 Louisiana 3235, Larose, Louisiana 70373.

LOCATION OF WORK:  Bayou Lafourche, Latitude 29.120278, Longitude -90.212222, Port Fourchon, Louisiana, Lafourche Parish, within the Barataria Basin in hydrologic unit (HUC 08090301), as shown in the attached drawings.

CHARACTER OF WORK:  The applicant has requested a Department of the Army authorization to deposit fill to construct and maintain a bulkhead along Bayou Lafourche and an E-Slip at Port Fourchon.  Approximately 6,170 cubic yards of mixed lightweight aggregate and limestone fill be hauled in and deposited to achieve bulkhead stability requirements. The proposed bulkhead will extend out 5 feet into the E-Slip and Bayou Lafourche. It is anticipated that the proposed action would have no impacts on wetlands.

The applicant is claiming that the proposed project has been designed for the minimal amount of clearance needed for construction of the new bulkhead to minimize direct and secondary adverse impacts to the maximum extent practicable.  Any further reduction in the size of the bulkhead or the placement of the bulkhead land side would jeopardize the integrity of the worksite.  The project will have no impacts on vegetated wetlands.
