To view a Public Notice and its associated Drawings file (if any), click on the "Public Notice" or "Public Notice and Drawings" link and any additional links included in the attachments section. How to send comments. Comments can be mailed to the address appearing in the Public Notice or emailed to the Project Manager identified on the Public Notice. Comments made in reference to a Public Notice should include your name, address, and phone number as well as the permit application number identified on the Public Notice. 

Individuals or parties may request an extension of time in which to comment on the proposed work by writing to the project manager or clicking on the project manager’s name on the public notice grid on the web page.  Any request must be specific and substantively supportive of the requested extension, and received by this office prior to the end of the initial comment period.  The Branch Chief will review the request and the requestor will be promptly notified of the decision to grant or deny the request.  If granted, the time extension will be continuous to the initial comment period and, inclusive of the initial comment period, will not exceed a total of 30 calendar days.

NAME OF APPLICANT:  BAYOU LAFOURCHE FRESH WATER DISTRICT, c/o Royal Engineers and Consultants, LLC, Attn: Hunter Guidry, 14635 South Harrell’s Ferry Road, Suite 6D, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, 70816.

LOCATION OF WORK:  Bayou Lafourche, in Section 80, Township 13 South, Range 14 East, identified as Tract B-21, Ingleside Plantation, north of the Louisiana Highway 1010 Bridge, Napoleonville, Louisiana, (29.898902, -90.988636), in Assumption Parish, as shown on the enclosed drawings, within Hydrologic Unit Code 08090301, East Central Louisiana Coastal, Louisiana.

CHARACTER OF WORK:  The applicant has requested Department of the Army authorization to install and maintain a steel gate that can be closed in the event that pumping of the Mississippi River water into Bayou Lafourche is temporarily ceased, allowing the structure to provide emergency upstream water storage for potable use and bank stability.  Approximately 1,850 cubic yards of material will be excavated and hauled off site in order to install the gate structure.  The proposed project may impact approximately 0.01 ac of wetland habitat with the deposition of approximately 750 cubic yards of limestone rip-rap for stabilization.

The applicant has stated that the project has been designed to avoid and minimize direct and secondary adverse impacts to the maximum extent practicable.  If compensatory mitigation is required as a result of the proposed work, the applicant proposes to mitigate in-kind wetland credits form a Corps approved mitigation bank located in the watershed.
