Lane closure to occur on Freret Street at Jefferson Avenue for work related to SELA
NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District will temporarily close Freret Street on the west side of Jefferson Avenue for work related to the Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control Project (SELA).
Weather permitting, beginning Thursday, September 8, 2016, Freret Street will close on the west side of Jefferson Avenue for approximately five months. Traffic traveling east bound (downtown) on Freret Street will not be able to access Jefferson Avenue and will be detoured at Nashville Avenue and Octavia Street. Traffic traveling west bound (Uptown) on Freret Street will be able to turn north on Jefferson Avenue, but will not be able to cross Jefferson Avenue. The closure will not affect north bound traffic on Jefferson Avenue.
The closure is for construction of the underground box culvert on Jefferson Avenue.
Throughout construction, the Army Corps will continue to coordinate closures with its partners at the City of New Orleans and the Sewerage & Water Board.
