Permanent bus stops installed at S. Claiborne and S. Carrollton avenues
NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, and its contractors, in coordination with the Regional Transit Authority, have completed permanent bus stop installation at the intersection of South Claiborne and South Carrollton avenues. Work is related to the Southeast Louisiana Drainage Project (SELA).
Thursday, Oct. 1, RTA installed two bus shelters on S. Claiborne Avenue. The shelter for Jefferson Transit riders is located on the west side of S. Carrollton Avenue and the shelter for RTA riders is located on the east side of S. Carrollton Avenue. Riders can now use these locations to board buses. The Army Corps’ contractor continues to perform work on curbing, sidewalks, American with Disabilities Act approved ramps and seeding/sodding in the area. Final roadway and striping will be complete in spring 2016.
Throughout construction, The Army Corps will continue to work closely with its partners at the City of New Orleans and Sewerage & Water Board.
