Published June 24, 2014

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District and its contractor will temporarily shift lanes on Jefferson Avenue for sewer and water line installation between South Robertson Street and South Claiborne Avenue. Work is for the Southeast Louisiana Drainage Project (SELA).

Beginning Wednesday, June 25, 2014 and lasting through late fall; the northbound lanes of Jefferson Avenue will be shifted west to the southbound lanes at a neutral ground cross-over between South Robertson Street and Magnolia Street. The southbound lanes will shift into the existing parking lane. The traffic detour will continue north along Jefferson Avenue from the cross over point and switch back to normal travel lanes at South Claiborne Avenue. Residential parking lanes will be closed during construction.

Additionally, the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Clara Street will reopen at this time.

Throughout construction, the Corps will continue to work closely with its partners at City of New Orleans and the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans. All SELA work in Orleans Parish is scheduled to be complete in 2018.
