Corps neutral ground work on St. Charles Avenue to be postponed

Published May 12, 2014

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, is postponing drainage work in the St. Charles Avenue neutral ground, which was originally scheduled to begin in June 2014. Work is part of the Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Damage Reduction Project (SELA).

Due to a change in the construction schedule, work will be postponed until June 2015. The drainage work will affect the crossovers on St. Charles Ave at Jefferson Avenue, Napoleon Avenue and Louisiana Avenue intersections and will allow all three closures to occur at the same time so that street car service can resume as quickly as possible.

The Corps and the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans will continue to coordinate closures with the Regional Transit Authority on this project.
