Southbound lane on part of Jefferson Avenue to be closed for SELA Uptown work

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, and its contractors will temporarily close part of Jefferson Avenue, southbound for drainage culvert installation as part of the Southeast Louisiana Drainage Project (SELA).

Beginning Wednesday, April 2, 2014, the southbound lane of Jefferson Avenue from St. Charles Avenue to Atlanta Street will be closed for approximately 15 months. During this time, all southbound traffic will be diverted to Nashville Avenue

The closure is for the installation of steel sheet piles and construction of a drainage box culvert.

Throughout construction, the Corps will work closely with its partners at the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority, the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans and the City of New Orleans. All SELA work in Orleans Parish is scheduled to be completed in 2018.
