Public meeting slated for Jun. 16, 2009 at Northshore Harbor Center
NEW ORLEANS – The Corps will host a public meeting on Tuesday, Jun. 16, 2009 to provide an update on the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration (LaCPR) Draft Final Technical Report to Congress and discuss strategies for long-term risk reduction measures that may benefit St. Tammany Parish residences and businesses.
“This meeting is an opportunity for St. Tammany Parish residents to learn more about long-term risk reduction measures that the Corps is studying,” said Troy Constance, branch chief of the Corps’ Coastal Restoration section.
In addition to LaCPR, the Corps will also address the status of the Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control (SELA) project and will touch on the impacts the Greater New Orleans Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System has on East St. Tammany Parish.
The meeting begins with an open house at 6 p.m. and will be followed by a presentation and discussion at 7 p.m. It was scheduled in response to residents’ requests and is being hosted in coordination with Parish President Kevin Davis and City of Slidell Mayor Ben Morris.
