Public meetings slated for Aug. 19 and Aug. 26
NEW ORLEANS – The Army Corps of Engineers is hosting two public meetings to discuss impacts that Algiers residents can expect from construction on the Sewerage and Water Board Pump Stations 11 and 13 as the Corps builds the stronger and more reliable Greater New Orleans Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System.
“Construction of concrete floodwalls around Pump Station 11 and Pump Station 13 will generate some inconveniences; however, the Corps is making efforts to minimize unavoidable impacts in order to reduce risk for the Algiers area,” said Ted Carr, project manager.
The public meetings will also discuss the status of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway West Closure Complex project, which will reduce risk for about 250,000 Westbank residences and businesses.
The Gulf Intracoastal Waterway West Closure Complex, once complete, will be the most significant risk reduction feature on the Westbank.
