Public meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Mar. 30
NEW ORLEANS, LA – The Corps will provide community members an update on the status of constructing the St. Charles Parish east bank portion of the Greater New Orleans Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System at a public meeting on Tuesday evening, Mar. 30. The meeting will take place at St. Charles of Borromeo Catholic Church Auditorium, 13396 River Rd. in Destrehan.
“We have a number of levees, drainage structures, and floodwalls currently under construction on the east bank of St. Charles Parish,” said Brad Drouant, project manager. “This meeting will provide community members the opportunity to learn more about work the Corps is doing to reduce risk to the area.”
The meeting presentation will discuss the risk reduction projects that stretch from Norco in St. Charles Parish to the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in Jefferson Parish. The meeting will also include a brief discussion on the possible use of three potential stockpile areas that are described in Individual Environmental Report 24 which will be available for public review from Friday, Mar. 26 through Saturday, Apr. 24, 2010. Two of the potential stockpile areas are in St. John the Baptist Parish. The third potential stockpile site is located in St. Charles Parish near the Mississippi River.
