Corps to discuss west bank risk reduction projects

Public meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Apr. 27

NEW ORLEANS, LA – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District is hosting a public meeting to provide an update on the status of new and ongoing construction on the Western Tie-In project, which will connect the Greater New Orleans Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System to the Mississippi River Levees on the west bank of St. Charles Parish.

“This meeting will provide a venue for community members to get an update on the status of the Western Tie-In project, said Jeff Williams, project manager. “Citizens will have the opportunity to learn about the benefits and impacts anticipated by construction and operation of the Western Tie-In project features in their area.”

The Western Tie-In project reduces risk to communities east of the Davis Pond Freshwater Diversion, and along Hwy. 90 near the St. Charles and Jefferson Parish boundary.
