NEW ORLEANS—A $3.2 million construction contract was awarded June 30 for a wastewater treatment plant in Iberia Parish.
In the project partnership agreement, the Corps and Iberia Parish agreed to a 75/25 percent cost-share, with the federal portion funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. This is the final contract of the Corp’s $195.4 million allocation of ARRA funds that contributed 137 contract awards.
The new facility will benefit unincorporated areas of northern Iberia Parish near the Acadiana Regional Airport.
“The project is designed to provide a wastewater treatment capacity that is necessary for continued residential, commercial and industrial growth in this area,” said Chad Chauvin, project manager for the New Orleans District.
The contract was awarded to Integrated Pro Services, LLC, a service-disabled veteran-owned small business in New Orleans.
President Barack Obama signed into law the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act February 17, 2009. The legislation is intended to stimulate recovery of the U.S. economy. Based on the ARRA estimates from the Council of Economic Advisers to the President, approximately 35 jobs (direct and indirect in job-years) will be created/maintained as a result of this contract.
