WHAT: The US Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, has pictures (below) of the canopy at the entrance of the bridge at Causeway Boulevard being demolished and removed. The removal of the canopy will make way for the new 10 ft. floodwall being constructed as a part of the Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System (HSDRRS).
Background: The purpose of the Causeway Boulevard construction project is to reduce risk for residences and businesses on the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain from a storm surge associated with a tropical event that has a one percent chance of occurring in any given year.
