Highway 23 to close in Plaquemines Parish

Eastern Tie-in Project, Hurricane & Storm Damage Risk Reduction System

 

NEW ORLEANS – As an emergency response measure, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, in conjunction with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, and the Plaquemines Parish Sherriff’s Department has made the decision Monday, August 27, 2012 to close the Eastern Tie-In construction closure on Highway 23 in Oakville, La., beginning at midnight.

 

The south bound lanes will close first. Residents south of Oakville will need to use north bound travel lanes as an evacuation route until Corps’ personnel are directed to close the north bound lanes. Northbound lanes will begin to close at approximately 6.am on Tuesday. Once closed, authorized vehicles will have access to an emergency bypass road.
