Published July 12, 2012

NEW ORLEANS, LA – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, has released its Record of Decision (ROD) for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development’s (LaDOTD) Interstate 12 to Bush permit application.

“Based on a thorough review of all available information, we have determined that Alternative Q is the least environmentally damaging practical alternative,” stated Col. Ed Fleming, Commander of the New Orleans District.  “This alternative will be the selected route if a permit is issued.”

If all necessary requirements are met by the applicant, the New Orleans District can support a permit for Alternative Q under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.  These requirements include a Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) Section 401 Water Quality Certification and a wetland impact mitigation plan that is acceptable to state and federal resource agencies and approved by the New Orleans District.
