IHNC Lock replacement public review, comment periods extended

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, has extended the public review and comment period from ending on July 17, 2025, to now end on Sept 2, 2025, for the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal Lock Replacement Draft General Reevaluation Report and integrated Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement.

Additionally, the public review period for the related Clean Water Act Section 404(b)(1) Public Notice, released on June 6, 2025, has been extended from the original 30-day public review and comment period to also end on Sept. 2, 2025.

Both the draft report with supporting information, including the Community Impact Mitigation Plan and Traffic Mitigation Program, and the Clean Water Act 404(b)(1) Public Notice, are available online at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District website: https://www.mvn.usace.army.mil/About/Projects/IHNC-Lock-Replacement/

Additionally, materials from the public meeting held June 28, 2025, are also available online.

The general public, interested parties, and stakeholders are invited to comment on the release of the draft report. The draft report contains a description of the project, an evaluation of the alternatives under consideration, and an analysis of potential environmental impacts. All public comments received will be considered as part of the continued development of the final report, which is scheduled for completion later this year.
