NEW ORLEANS -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recently awarded a contract to storm proof a pump station in New Orleans East so that it can remain operational during a commercial power outage event and reduce the risk of failure of the drainage system in the area.
Angele McClain, project manager with the New Orleans District, said “This contract will provide back-up generator power to the facility, making the pump station more independent and dependable during a commercial power loss that may occur during a storm.”
On February 25, 2025, the Corps awarded a $7.9 million contract to Cycle Construction, LLC of Kenner, Louisiana to storm proof DPS 10 Sewerage and Water Board pump station located along Haynes Boulevard in New Orleans East. The purpose of the project is to allow the operations of two of its four vertical storm water pumps during a commercial power outage. The contract will provide an auxiliary power pump generator, fuel tank, access platforms, and related equipment.
Bids were solicited via the internet with four received. Work will be performed in New Orleans, Louisiana, with an estimated completion date of Fall 2026. Fiscal 2025 civil construction funds in the amount of $7,994,120 were obligated at the time of the award.
