Lane shift to occur on Jefferson Avenue
Work related to the Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control Project (SELA)
NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, will temporarily shift a portion of Jefferson Avenue for work related to the Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control Project (SELA).
On Monday, April 9, 2018, the lake bound (north bound) lane of Jefferson Avenue will be shifted to the river bound (south bound) lane from LaSalle to Dryades streets. Currently, river bound traffic is not allowed on this portion of Jefferson Avenue.
The lane shift is to allow for drain line work and restoration of roadway, driveways, curbs and sidewalks on the lake bound side of Jefferson Avenue. Jefferson Avenue Phase I (Claiborne to Dryades streets) is scheduled to be complete late summer 2018.
Throughout construction, the Army Corps will continue to coordinate closures with its partners at the City of New Orleans and the Sewerage and Water Board.
