Temporary road closure to occur on Freret Street at Louisiana Avenue
Work related to the Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control Project (SELA)
NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, will temporarily close a portion of Freret Street for work related to the Southeast Louisiana Flood Control Project (SELA).
Weather dependent, on Monday, April 17, 2017, Freret Street will be closed on the west (uptown) side of Louisiana Avenue for approximately two weeks. During this closure, northbound (lake bound) and southbound (river bound) traffic will be maintained on Louisiana Avenue. Traffic traveling west (uptown) on Freret Street will be able to access Louisiana Avenue. Traffic traveling east (downtown) on Freret Street will be detoured prior to reaching Louisiana Avenue. Detour signage will be in place.
This closure is for work related to box culvert construction.
Throughout construction, the Army Corps will continue to coordinate closures with its partners at the City of New Orleans and the Sewerage & Water Board.
