Temporary road closure to occur on Florida Avenue

Work related to the Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control Project (SELA)

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, will temporarily close a portion of Florida Avenue for work related to the Southeast Louisiana Flood Control Project (SELA).

Weather dependent, on Tuesday, March 7th from approximately 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., Florida Avenue will be closed from Franklin to Almonaster avenues for work related to box culvert construction. During this time, residents will be able to access their driveways. Detour signage will be in place.

Traffic traveling east on Florida Avenue will be detoured at Franklin Avenue. Florida Avenue is currently closed from Almonaster Avenue to Mazant Street for construction of the drainage project.

Throughout construction, the Army Corps will continue to coordinate closures with its partners at the City of New Orleans and the Sewerage & Water Board.
