Employees recognized for contributions to PCCP

More than 100 United State Army Corps of Engineers New Orleans District employees and contractors received recognition Feb. 14 for their contributions to the Permanent Canal Closures and Pumps (PCCP) project.

"Regardless of how big or small your role in the PCCP, you had an important role," New Orleans District Commander Col. Michael Clancy told the Corps of Engineers employees and contractors, who worked on the project, which was the largest design build cost-capped project in the Corps of Engineers history.

Together the three pumps in the project form one of the largest and most advanced pump stations in the world, Clancy said, adding that project ranks near the top of the list of projects he has completed during his tenure at the New Orleans District.

Many employees had spent more than a decade working on the project, which provides a permanent and more sustainable measure for reducing the risk of a 100-year level storm surge entering the outfall canals in New Orleans.

Resident engineer Robert Guillot, lead project engineer Jennifer Kline, and assistant chief engineer Chris Dunn were awarded meritorious service medals for their contributions to the project, and numerous other employees received superior and commander’s service medals for their efforts.
