Beginning in 2016, the PCCP JV Construction Meeting will be held on a quarterly basis.

                

Current Activities

HOT INFO:

  • Orleans East tie-in: tree removal and trimming tentatively scheduled. That work will be along Marconi Drive.
  • London West tie-in work is ongoing along Pratt Drive. Sand delivery for the sand push will continue this week. Trucks entering from Lakeshore Drive. 

The following activities are scheduled for June 20 through June 26, 2016.

17th Street Canal / 30-Day Look Ahead / 90-Day Look Ahead          

Night shift activities to include: Minimal night shift activities scheduled for this week.

Day shift activities to include:    

  • Installation of permanent bulkhead sheets along the pump station. Elevated noise levels expected.
  • Marina Recirculation line is ongoing. Carpenters are working on the box culvert.
  • Levee tie in work continues. Completion of the slope paving.
  • Grading crews are removing the sand surcharge and hauling the sand to London. Trucks entering and exiting West Roadway.
  • Removal of sheets for the additional bypass gate. Elevated noise levels expected.
  • Excavation around the pump station for the removal of pump station sheets. Elevated noise levels expected.    
  • Installation of the structural steel and precast wall panels for the pump station continues. Delivery of structural steel and precast panels via West Roadway.
  • Delivery of materials to site. Trucks entering and exiting from West Roadway. 

Orleans Avenue Canal / 30-Day Look Ahead / 90-Day Look Ahead      

Night shift operations to include: Minimal night shift activities scheduled for this week.

Day shift activities:

  • Installation of permanent bulkhead around the pump station continues. Elevated noise levels expected.
  • Completion of the excavation for the discharge cofferdam on the North side of the pump station. Trucks entering and exiting Lakeshore Drive.   
  • Tree trimming and removal for the East twall tie-in will be in the next couple of weeks.
  • Delivery of materials to site. Trucks entering and exiting from Lakeshore Drive.      

London Avenue Canal / 30-Day Look Ahead / 90-Day Look Ahead   

Night shift activities to include:  Minimal night shift activities scheduled for this week.

Day shift activities:        

  • Removal of sheet pile around the pump station. Elevated noise levels expected.
  • Hang precast panels at the auxiliary building. Delivery of precast panels from Lakeshore Drive or Leon C. Simon.
  • Excavation of the additional bypass gates continues this week.
  • Installation of combi wall piles in the canal. Removal of sheets along the bypass structure. Elevated noise levels expected.
  • West twall tie-in: delivery of sand. Sand delivery trucks along Pratt Drive.
  • Delivery of materials to the site. Trucks entering and exiting from Leon C. Simon and Lakeshore Drive.

Construction Impacts

  • Elevated noise levels from pile driving, generators, etc.
  • Pile Driving Activities: between 7:00 AM and 9:00 PM
  • Increased truck traffic (trucks will utilize approved haul routes)
  • Temporary road closures
  • Extended work hours (24 hours per day)
  • November 2013 – Project Completion (2017)

Efforts to Minimize Impacts

  • Noise and vibration monitoring plan.
  • “Five Cubits” GPS tracking system to monitor trucks / ensure that they are following approved haul routes.
  • Some materials will be delivered by barge.
  • Construction signage is being placed around the sites. 
  • Any temporary road closures will be communicated to the public ahead of schedule.
  • The Corps will continue to inform / educate the community about the project in advance of major construction.
