Beginning in 2016, the PCCP JV Construction Meeting will be held on a quarterly basis.

                

Current Activities

HOT INFO:

  • 17th Street: Night shift pile removal work. Removal of pile will occur until 9:00 pm and night shift operations will continue until 3:30 am.
  • Orleans East Tie-In: Laydown yard grading work on Marconi. Trucks will be entering from Lakeshore Drive to deliver sand base and rock.
  • London West Tie-In work is ongoing along Pratt Drive. Pile delivery trucks for pile driving. Trucks entering from Lakeshore Drive or Leon C. Simon. 
  • LABOR DAY: PCCP does not anticipate working on Labor Day. There will be minimal activity to survey the site.

17th Street Canal / 30-Day Look Ahead / 90-Day Look Ahead          

Night shift activities to include:

  • Pile removal activities during night shift until 9:00 pm. Elevated noise levels expected. Shift will continue with additional staging and cleaning.

Day shift activities to include:    

  • Removal of sheet pile around the pump station. Elevated noise levels expected.
  • Marina re-circulation line work is ongoing.   
  • Setting of bar screens at the pump station. Deliveries via West Roadway.       
  • Delivery of materials to site. Trucks entering and exiting from West Roadway. 

Orleans Avenue Canal / 30-Day Look Ahead / 90-Day Look Ahead      

Night shift operations to include: Minimal night shift activities scheduled for this week.

Day shift activities:

  • Installation of permanent bulkhead around the pump station continues. Elevated noise levels expected.
  • Placement of concrete for the discharge walls. Concrete trucks entering and exiting Lakeshore Drive.   
  • East Twall Tie-In along Marconi Drive: Grading the laydown yard and filling Super Sacs with sand. Trucks entering from Lakeshore Drive. Deliveries of sand and base rock.
  • Delivery of materials to site. Trucks entering and exiting from Lakeshore Drive.      

London Avenue Canal / 30-Day Look Ahead / 90-Day Look Ahead   

Night shift activities to include:  Minimal night shift activities scheduled for this week.

Day shift activities:        

  • Removal of sheet pile around the pump station. Elevated noise levels expected.   
  • Installation of sheet pile for the permanent bulkhead. Elevated noise levels expected.
  • Installation of roof for the pump station and auxiliary building.
  • Prep for dredging. Trucks hauling soil, entering and exiting from Leon C. Simon and Lakeshore Drive.
  • West Twall Tie-In along Pratt Drive: Drive pile for Twall. Elevated noise levels expected. Prep for placement of concrete along twall.
  • Delivery of materials to the site. Trucks entering and exiting from Leon C. Simon and Lakeshore Drive.

Construction Impacts

  • Elevated noise levels from pile driving, generators, etc.
  • Pile Driving Activities: between 7:00 AM and 9:00 PM
  • Increased truck traffic (trucks will utilize approved haul routes)
  • Temporary road closures
  • Extended work hours (24 hours per day)
  • November 2013 – Project Completion (2017)

Efforts to Minimize Impacts

  • Noise and vibration monitoring plan.
  • “Five Cubits” GPS tracking system to monitor trucks / ensure that they are following approved haul routes.
  • Some materials will be delivered by barge.
  • Construction signage is being placed around the sites. 
  • Any temporary road closures will be communicated to the public ahead of schedule.
  • The Corps will continue to inform / educate the community about the project in advance of major construction.
