  • Federal, state, and local officials break ground on Morganza to the Gulf Reach A Levee

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District held a Groundbreaking Ceremony to celebrate the beginning of Federal levee construction for the Morganza to the Gulf of Mexico Storm Risk Reduction System, Reach A.
  • Canal closure for floodwall and levee crossing for the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, will permanently restrict travel down the full length of the canal at contract 106 to any marine traffic starting on October 21, 2024, as part of the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain project. The projects levee and floodwall alignment will prevent traffic from traversing the canal located between east and west bound lanes of I-10 near mile marker 203 in St. John the Baptist Parish.
  • Federal, state, and local officials break ground on Southwest Louisiana Coastal Project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority held a Groundbreaking Ceremony to celebrate the start of the Southwest Coastal Louisiana Project. This project will deliver a non-structural approach to providing a 1-percent level of hurricane and storm damage risk reduction, primarily through a combination of elevating or floodproofing approximately 4,000 homes and businesses and undertaking much-needed coastal ecosystem restoration in the southwest portion of the state.
