New Orleans – The public is invited to provide input on the proposed emergency bank stabilization on Bayou Plaquemine along Louisiana Highway 77 in Iberville Parish, La. The 30-day public comment period begins on Dec. 9, 2021 and concludes on Jan. 8, 2022.
The draft Environmental Assessment No. 587, titled “Continuing Authority Program, Section 14 – Emergency Streambank Protection, Louisiana Highway 77 at Bayou Plaquemine, Iberville Parish, Louisiana” is available for public review and comment. The document provides an assessment of potential impacts associated with implementing the proposed action for 3,000 linear feet of emergency streambank protection for Louisiana Highway 77 at Bayou Plaquemine, Iberville Parish, La. to prevent erosion of the highway.
All comments received by the end of the 30-day review period will be considered in finalizing EA No. 587. Comments received and CEMVN responses will be included in an appendix to the document.
The draft document was prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and the Council of Environmental Quality’s Regulations for Implementing NEPA and the Clean Water Act (CWA) Section 404 (Section 404(b)(1)) in accordance with provisions of Title 33 CFR Parts 336.1(b)(1) and 337.1. CEMVN is in coordination with the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, Office of Environmental Services for a Water Quality Certification in accordance with statutory authority contained in the LAC 33:IX.1507.A-E and provisions of Section 401 of the CWA.
