Deputy Commander of the New Orleans District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
Major Chase Olson assumed the duties of deputy district commander of the New Orleans District on May 18th, 2026. Prior to his assignment to the New Orleans District, Major Olson served at the Army Training Center in Fort Jackson, SC.
Major Chase Olson was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers through the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps at South Dakota State University in 2010.
His civilian education includes a Bachelor of Science from South Dakota State University, a Master of Science from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, a Master of Military Studies from the Command and General Staff College, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Kansas. His military education includes the Engineer Officer Basic and Advanced Courses and Intermediate-Level Education.
Major Olson’s previous leadership assignments include platoon leader and executive officer for the 911th Technical Rescue Engineer Company, commander of the 511th Engineer Dive Detachment, headquarters commandant for the Special Operations Joint Task Force – Central, and operations and executive officer for the 193d Infantry Brigade.
Major Olson’s military awards and decorations are commensurate with his experience.
