How to send comments. Comments can be mailed to the address appearing in the Public Notice or emailed to the Project Manager identified on the Public Notice. Comments made in reference to a Public Notice should include your name, address, and phone number as well as the permit application number identified on the Public Notice.

Individuals or parties may request an extension of time in which to comment on the proposed work by writing to the project manager or clicking on the project manager’s name on the public notice grid on the web page. Any request must be specific and substantively supportive of the requested extension, and received by this office prior to the end of the initial comment period. The Branch Chief will review the request and the requestor will be promptly notified of the decision to grant or deny the request. If granted, the time extension will be continuous to the initial comment period and, inclusive of the initial comment period, will not exceed a total of 30 calendar days.

WATERWAY AND LOCATION: The project would affect waters of the United States and navigable waters of the United States adjacent to False Branch Bayou. The project/review area is located on the west side of Hwy 69, in Sections 29,30, and 31, Township 11S, Range 13W; at Latitude 30.09075 and Longitude -91.18343; south of White Castle, Louisiana in Iberville Parish.

PROPOSED WORK: The applicant requests authorization to permanently fill 18.07 acres of a mixture of wet pasture, bald-cypress, bottomland hardwoods, and scrub-shrub wetlands for the construction of an access road and test well to evaluate the suitability of carbon capture storage. The applicant is proposing to utilize a portion of an existing access road and to construct a new access road within bottomland hardwood and cypress swamp to access a proposed well pad area to evaluate the area for a potential injection well that will capture carbon dioxide from nearby industry emissions. Culverts will be placed along the proposed access road to main hydrological connection between the wetland areas east and west of the road. The applicant will be required to utilize best management practices (BMPs) to reduce runoff and erosion into the adjacent and abutting wetland areas.
