NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, in coordination with the Causeway Commission and Jefferson Parish, will temporarily close northbound lanes at Causeway Boulevard to accommodate preparation for and construction of the new canopy structure.
§ On Monday, June 3, the two right lanes will be closed from 6:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.; the turn lane will remain closed at Fifth Street, but rerouted to Seventh Street.
§ On Tuesday, June 4, there will be intermittent closures of the right and left lanes between 6:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.; the turn lane will remain closed at Fifth Street but rerouted to Seventh Street.
§ On Friday, June 7, the two right lanes will be closed at 10:00 p.m.
§ On Saturday, June 8, a complete closure of the northbound travel lanes will occur from 12:00 a.m. until 4:00 a.m.
The Causeway Boulevard project is part of the Greater New Orleans Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System, which reduces the risk associated with a storm surge event that has a one percent chance of occurring in any given year, or a 100-year storm surge.
