On February 6, 2009, the Corps joined local officials in a ground breaking ceremony for the construction along two reaches of nonfederal levees in Terrebonne Parish. These levees are being improved to reduce the neighboring communities' risk of flooding during severe storms. Construction on these levees was completed in July 2009.
