Col. Scotty Autin

Col. Scotty Autin was born in Houma, Louisiana. In 2002, he graduated from the United States Military Academy with a degree in Engineering Management and commissioned into the Corps of Engineers. He comes to New Orleans recently serving as the Protection Branch Chief and US/NATO integration lead at the NATO Joint Force Command-Brunssum located in Brunssum, Netherlands.

His assignments include construction, topography, mechanized, and airborne engineer battalions as well as multiple tours with the US Army Corps of Engineers. From 2002 to 2004, he was a platoon leader in the 68th Combat Support Equipment Company, 62nd Engineer Battalion at Fort Hood, Texas with a deployment to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2004, he transferred to the 2nd Engineer Battalion (Mechanized) in Korea for a tour as a company executive officer. In 2005, Col. Autin deployed to Louisiana and Mississippi in response to Hurricane Katrina to serve as the Deputy Commander in the Waveland Emergency Field Office supporting debris removal, blue roof, and ice distribution. From 2005-2009, he served in Hawaii as a battalion maintenance officer in the 29th Engineer Battalion (Topo), company commander for 643rd Engineer Company, 84th Engineer Battalion (Construction), and brigade engineer for the 45th Sustainment Brigade in Kandahar, Afghanistan. In 2010, he was a project manager for the Galveston District, US Army Corps of Engineers with projects focused on dredging GIWW, beneficial use of South Padre Island, TX, and Border Stations for the Customs and Border Protection. From 2013-2016, Col. Autin served in Italy first as a facilities and construction engineer with US Army-Africa and then as an operations and executive officer for the 54th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 173rd IBCT(Airborne). Next, he served as the Deputy District Commander for the Los Angeles District, US Army Corps of Engineers from 2016-2019 with deployments to Iraq to support Mosul Dam remediation, the US-Mexico Border for border wall construction, and Puerto Rico to serve as the officer in charge of TF Power Restoration.

Col. Autin commanded the 37th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division from 2019-2022. He was charged with the leadership, training, and welfare of over 450 US Paratroopers ready to deploy with no notice anywhere around the world.

Col. Autin’s education includes a Bachelor of Science in Engineer Management from West Point, Master of Arts in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University, and a Master of Science in Joint Campaign Planning and Strategy from the Joint Advanced Warfighting School inside the Joint Forces Staff College. Military schools include Sapper Leader Course and the basic and advanced Army Airborne School with a Master Parachutist rating.
