408 Public Notices

16-0096; West Baton Rouge Parish Council; Natural Gas Line

Published June 21, 2016

The proposed project will involve the installation of an 8” Natural Gas Supply Line in West Baton Rouge Parish. The purpose of this project is to supply additional gas to West Baton Rouge Parish customers south of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW). Currently, due to the residential growth on the south end of the Parish, the current gas tap has reached its capacity and this project will create a loop and send gas from the north side of the GIWW in Port Allen, Louisiana. The pipeline will be installed from the north side of the GIWW, beneath the GIWW (Mile Marker 61.7) and terminate on the south side of the GIWW. The line will be installed utilizing the traditional trenching method with the exception of the GIWW crossing which will be crossed in a Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD). The proposed depth of the GIWW Crossing is -36.0 MLG, which will provide approximately 24-feet of cover below the design channel depth for the GIWW. The line is proposed to be installed within an existing 15’ West Baton Rouge Parish Pipeline Right-of–Way and be collocated with the existing West Baton Rouge Parish Water Line, with the exception of the GIWW crossing where it will be installed ± 20’ east of the existing water line to provide adequate separation for the HDD operations.
